Grand Forks has it!
Moving to Grand Forks?
You're making a good move. We love living here! Grand Forks is a city known for its academia, cultural activities, and recreation. There's a lot to love about our city and area, and we welcome you!
Education
To call it a "college town" would be an understatement. Besides our excellent public and private schools, the University of North Dakota enrolls more than 13,000 students following 224 fields of study, plus a medical school, law school, and aerospace training center, all nationally recognized for educational excellence.
Culture
The Grand Forks community is also robust with arts, music, and theater events. We enjoy many annual outdoor festivals, farmer's markets, and nationally touring performing groups. We also have a fascinating history!
Economy
Our economy is healthy because of what we have to offer here. We have excellent healthcare facilities, ample employment opportunities, several large shopping centers, and many unique local shops. We are in a prime location for weekend trips to Winnipeg or Minneapolis. Our international airport is served by several large airlines, and we are also home to the Grand Forks Air Force Base.
Recreation
If it's activity you want, we have abundant recreational opportunites and sports facilities to satisfy every interest, from biking to skating to golf! Or, if it's team spirit you crave, attend a game of the UND Fighting Hawks hockey team, winner of eight national championships!

Climate
You've probably heard that our northern Red River Valley winters are not exactly heat waves. And it's true. But the friendly, open hearts of the people in Grand Forks keep us warm all winter long. Like anywhere in the upper plains, you get used to the cold and fall in love with all four of our beautiful seasons!
